On September 18, H.E. Mr. Ritter Diaz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Panama to Japan, and Ms. Georgette Constantino Aixpurua, Third Secretary, visited MIF and had a very constructive meeting with Prof. Toshiaki HASHIMOTO, MIF’s Chairperson, and Prof. Keiichi KATAYAMA, Executive Director. MIF has ever invited 2 fellows from Panama but none since 2004. We discussed how we can increase the number of applicants from the country and both Ambassador Diaz and Prof. Hashimoto agreed to further strengthen the relationship between the embassy and MIF.

The 2nd MIF Study Tour for the Academic Year 2018 was organized between September 9th and 12th, 2018. 4 MIF fellows from Togo, Iran, Oman and Myanmar visited Kyoto, Nara, Miyajima and Hiroshima. This tour is organized by MIF annually and it gives important opportunities for the fellows to understand the cultures and tradition of Japan and think profoundly about the meaning of world peace.

 

A Graduation Ceremony for Dr. Ahmed Abdel Gawad Madbouly ELKADY from the Arab Republic of Egypt who completed his research study at Ehime University was held on the 7th of September at MIF’s reception house in Tokyo.  At the ceremony, Prof. HASHIMOTO, MIF’s Chairperson, directly presented the Certificate of Accomplishment and a memorial medal to the graduating Fellow. After the ceremony, Prof. HASHIMOTO hosted a farewell dinner at a traditional Japanese restaurant nearby, and Dr. ELKADY promised to enhance the relationships among the Fellows and with MIF.

The deadline date for the applications for 2019 MIF Research Fellowship Program is over.  The announcement for 2020 MIF Research Fellowship Program will be made around in this coming November.
